Assistant / Associate Professor – UX/UI (Job Vacancy)

"Indian Institute of Art and Design (IIAD) invites applications for the positions of Assistant/ Associate Professor. This role is for individuals who can bring along their own varied areas of interest while teaching Undergraduate Communication Design Students. The programme is offered in collaboration with Kingston University, UK. In the Communication Design department at IIAD we believe in multidisciplinary practice and aim to expose our students to diverse areas such as research, theory, exhibition design, experience design, etc. Minimum Qualifications 1. An undergraduate degree/PG or equivalent in Visual Communication/ Graphics, UX/UI, from a reputed design school 2. Minimum industry experience of 7-10 years for Assistant; 10+ years Associate Professor including some teaching experience. 3. Adequate knowledge /practical experience within the broader discipline including (but not limited to) conducting research, understanding a program, coherently putting together projects, skills such as graphic design, making presentations, etc The preferred faculty mentor needs to demonstrate expertise in an area of specialization. For example, interest, knowledge, and command over the history, theory, philosophy, techniques, methods, processes, and software used. User Interface and Interaction Design - 1 position. (Assistant or Associate Professor) We are looking for someone who will add to our User Experience Design course. He/She should be able to introduce the ever-evolving field of digital interfaces and interactions, from web design, android and IOS applications to wearables and IoTs. The candidate should have experience in designing enterprise and stand-alone solutions. Along with basic knowledge of industry level of quality assurance and testing; such as google analytics, A/B testing, etc, the candidate should be able to guide the students through the various design process of User Experience Design, and mentor them through the various software and tools to create working prototypes. Some knowledge of web development and hosting is required. Coding is not mandatory but is a bonus as many students like to bootstrap on their own. Any experience or interest in VR/AR, game design and its application is a bonus! Roles and responsibilities of all specialisations: • The main responsibility of the faculty would be to teach and mentor Communication Design students across all levels and help them evolve into reflexive design practitioners. There is a special focus on preparing them for professional practice. • Demonstrate independent and co-teaching capabilities in areas of theory and practical application. Teach the projects in studio-based and workshop-oriented settings. • Work collaboratively with other team members and demonstrate exceptional interpersonal and student management skills. Demonstrate sensitivity to student needs and circumstances and assist students with any additional learning needs. Fairly evaluate student performance and provide consistent, regular, and constructive feedback to the students. • Exceptional design skills and deep understanding of visual design principles. • Network with the industry to facilitate student exposure, interactions, live projects, industry visits, internships, and placements. • Plan, schedule, organize and develop syllabus, briefs, projects, and exercises for – the mentioned areas of specialization - for basic and advanced levels or as may be required. • Develop and maintain course-related documentation. Ensure that the projects developed are consistent with the official learning objectives of the Institute. • Stay abreast of new techniques and processes in the area of your expertise through projects, industry experience, research, workshops, certifications, etc."
