1. Job Purpose
- To help in designing and teaching courses in Cinematography.
- To monitor, build and support the departmental infrastructure.
2. Key Accountability
Academic
- Involve in the development and designing of courses and curriculum of Dadasaheb Phalke International Film School, MIT-WPU.
- Responsible to conduct lectures as per the assigned workload.
- Conduct practical, tutorials as per the assigned schedule.
- Handhold students during film production exercises.
- Assist the HOS and other staff in developing the curriculum. Understand the skills which are relevant in the job market and provide insights to professors and HOS.
- Conduct jointly in collaboration with regular faculty member of the institution, workshops, seminars, deliver and organize special lectures and training programmes.
- Help in preparation of timetable for the department.
- Organize study tours for students to give the required exposure to the students.
- Organize guest lectures and workshops for students by industry personnel.
Research & Development
- Conducting research and publishing papers in academic journals and writing proposals to secure funding for research. Participate in organizing seminars, conferences, workshops, FDP, etc.
- Representing the university at conferences and delivering presentations when necessary.
Strategic
- Work closely with concerned departments and plan student activities through clubs and other relevant activities on a regular basis.
- Coordinate with the Department of Student Support Services for extra-curricular and co-curricular activities and competitions for students.
- Active participation in academic, examination and administrative duty.
Operational
- Take care of admissions and examinations for the department in terms of monitoring its end-to-end execution and management.
- Take proactive interest in marketing and promotion of the department.
- Helping with the setting up and maintenance of the studio.
- Providing demonstrations and supervising shoots and internal and external workshops.
- Fulfil all other roles designated by the department/university from time to time.
Financial and Budget
- Manage the budget and resources allocated to the school, ensuring timely processing of disbursement of funds in liaison with Finance and Accounts departments.
Collaborations
- Encourage internationalization by facilitating student and faculty exchange programs and collaborations with universities abroad.
- Foster collaboration and interdisciplinary initiatives within the school and with other schools or academic units within the university.
3. Person Specification
Desired Qualification & Experience
- As per UGC Norms
- 5+ years of experience in the Film or Media Industry as Cinematographer/Film Editor.
- Teaching experience would be preferred but is not mandatory.
- Candidates with a relevant degree from a foreign university or an institution of eminence and/or with a significant body of work in the film and new media industry will be given preference.
