Reports To: Director, Atria Center-of-Excellence in AI and Decentralized Technology
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced faculty member to deliver intensive, project-based sprints focusing on Relational Database, SQL, and Big Data. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data engineering, with hands-on experience in designing, managing, and analyzing large data sets using various tools and technologies. They should be passionate about teaching and able to engage students in a hands-on, interactive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
· Design and deliver engaging lectures and hands-on sessions in Relational Database, SQL, and Big Data.
· Develop comprehensive course materials, including lectures, assignments, and project-based learning activities.
· Mentor and guide students through complex database designs and big data projects, providing them with practical, real-world experience.
· Evaluate student progress and provide constructive feedback to enhance their learning and development.
· Stay updated with the latest trends and advancements in data engineering to incorporate into the curriculum.
Technical Skills
· Extensive experience with relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL) and SQL.
· Proficiency in big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, Kafka).
· Knowledge of data modeling, data warehousing, and ETL processes.
· Familiarity with NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra).
· Experience with cloud platforms and services related to data storage and processing (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
· Understanding of data privacy and security principles.
Non-Technical Skills
· Strong commitment to active, project-based learning pedagogy.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively convey complex concepts.
· Proven ability to engage and motivate students in a highly interactive learning environment.
· Ability to collaborate with faculty, staff, and students to enhance the educational experience.
· Experience in curriculum development and course material preparation.
· A strong record of professional development and staying current in the field.
Education and Experience:
· Master’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
· At least 5 years of experience in data engineering or a related area.
· Prior teaching experience, especially in a higher education setting, is highly desirable.
