Associate Professor of Practice (Job Vacancy)

1. Job Purpose

• To bridge the gap between industry and academia, hiring film industry personnel with enough experience to support workshops and classes at Dadasaheb Phalke International Film School, MIT-WPU.
• To help in designing and teaching courses in Editing/Cinematography/Production specializations.

2. Key Accountability

Academic

• Involve in the development and designing of courses and curriculum of Dadasaheb Phalke International Film School, MIT-WPU.
• Introduce new courses and deliver lectures as per institutional policies.
• To encourage students in film production and media entrepreneurship projects & provide necessary mentorship for these activities.
• To focus on enhanced industry-academia collaborations.
• Conduct jointly in collaboration with regular faculty member of the institution, workshops, seminars, deliver and organize special lectures and training programmes.
• Help in preparation of timetable for the department.

Research & Development

• Support participation of faculty in external and internal events (seminars, conferences, or workshops).
• Plan and execute Faculty Upskilling initiatives and set up feedback mechanisms.
• Organize and promote faculty research activities.
• To take charge, monitor and guide students in their film production activities.

Strategic

• Work closely with concerned departments and plan student activities through clubs and other relevant activities on a regular basis.
• Coordinate with the Department of Student Support Services for extra-curricular and co-curricular activities and competitions for students.

Operational

• Take care of admissions and examinations for the department in terms of monitoring its end-to-end execution and management.
• Take proactive interest in marketing and promotion of the department.
• Fulfil all other roles designated by the department/university from time to time.

Financial and Budget

• Manage the budget and resources allocated to the school, ensuring efficient allocation and effective use of funds.

Collaborations

• Encourage internationalization by facilitating student and faculty exchange programs and collaborations with universities abroad.
• Foster collaboration and interdisciplinary initiatives within the school and with other schools or academic units within the university.

3. Person Specification

Desired Qualification & Experience

• Distinguished experts who have made remarkable contributions in film and new media industry. Those who have proven expertise in their specific profession or role with at least 10 years of service/experience, preferably at a senior level in a film production house or as a Cinematographer/Editor in the film industry, will be eligible for Associate Professor of Practice.
• A formal academic qualification is not considered essential for this position if they have exemplary professional practice in lieu. These experts will also be exempted from the requirement of publications and other eligibility criteria stipulated for the recruitment of faculty members at the Associate/Professor level. However, they should possess the skills to carry out the duties and responsibilities specified in the following section.
• Teaching experience would be preferred but is not mandatory.
• While we welcome applicants from any area of Film Production, we are particularly interested in applicants with an expertise in areas such as Cinematography, Editing, Business of Entertainment, Intro to Postproduction, New Media Production, Production Management, Experimental Production.

Substantial leadership and management experience

• Leadership Experience in Production houses/on sets would be preferred.
