Job Description

12-Month Position

Purpose

This position supports the Instructional Technology Center (ITC) and all schools by maintaining accurate records of accounting transactions, applying principles of accounting to analyze financial information and track budget requests, preparing reports as required, creating and tracking purchase orders and other requisitions, and maintaining an inventory of new equipment. As the payroll clerk, this position also compiles and processes payroll information and reports.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Associate’s Degree Preferred.
  • 1 year work experience in related field. Accounting experience within a K-12 environment preferred.
  • Excellent computer skills required.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate records of accounting transactions, ensuring that financial activities comply with local, state, and federal policies and procedures.
  • Apply principles of accounting to analyze financial information and track budget requests through an online ticketing system.
  • Prepare reports as required.
  • Communicate with stakeholders and vendors as required.
  • Create and monitor purchase orders.
  • Verify invoices against purchase orders.
  • Track orders, shipping, and receiving of all goods and process final payment for all purchases.
  • Maintain asset inventory of new equipment.
  • Assist employees with payroll/attendance questions and issues.
  • Serve as the liaison to the Finance Department.
  • Maintain detailed files and records.
  • Compile and process payroll information and reports
  • Assist supervisor and other technology staff as necessary.
  • Answer incoming telephone calls and routes them to the proper person or department; answers questions regarding routine matters; directs messages to appropriate staff.
  • Greet visitors and direct them to their intended destinations
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Software/word processing skills for data entry, reporting, word processing, desktop publishing, spreadsheets, and applicable payroll and bookkeeping software
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff, students, administrators, community members, and vendors.
  • Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.

Equipment

Uses standard office equipment such as personal computers, printer, copy and fax machines, and telephone.

Travel Requirements

Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.
