As we expand our language assessment offerings, we are seeking a highly qualified Language Assessor to join our team, specifically focusing on assessing Chinese/Mandarin language proficiency.
Position Overview:
As a Language Assessor specializing in Chinese/Mandarin proficiency, you will be responsible for evaluating the language skills of candidates through various assessment methods. This role requires strong proficiency in both spoken and written Chinese/Mandarin, as well as expertise in assessing language abilities accurately and objectively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducting comprehensive assessments of Chinese/Mandarin language proficiency using standardized testing protocols.
- Developing and administering language assessment materials, including listening, speaking, reading, and writing tasks.
- Evaluating candidates' language skills based on established proficiency levels and criteria.
- Providing detailed feedback and assessment reports to candidates, highlighting strengths and areas for improvement.
- Collaborating with internal teams to ensure assessment materials are relevant, up-to-date, and culturally appropriate.
- Contributing to the development and refinement of assessment methodologies and scoring criteria.
- Staying informed about advancements in language assessment practices and incorporating best practices into assessment procedures.
- Maintaining confidentiality and integrity throughout the assessment process.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Linguistics, Education, Foreign Languages, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
- Native or near-native proficiency in both spoken and written Chinese/Mandarin.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in language assessment, testing, or teaching Chinese/Mandarin as a second language.
- Familiarity with standardized language proficiency frameworks (e.g., CEFR, ACTFL) and proficiency levels.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to assess language abilities objectively and accurately.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to provide constructive feedback and communicate assessment results effectively.
- Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to manage multiple assessment tasks simultaneously.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software for assessment development and administration.
- Certification in language assessment (e.g., ALTA, ILTA) is a plus.
