"The Goa Institute of Management (GIM), established in 1993, is one among the top few business schools of India. GIM currently offers 5 PGDM programs: - the PGDM core program; PGDM Health Care Management program; PGDM Big Data Analytics program; PGDM in Management - Banking, Insurance & Financial Services; weekend part-time hybrid PGDM program for working executives.
GIM is looking for candidates with good counselling experience offering psychological support and guidance to our diverse Faculty/Staff & students at GIM.
Position Overview: The counsellor at GIM will play a pivotal role in supporting the mental and emotional well-being of our students. Provide confidential counselling services, develop wellness programs, and contribute to a supportive campus environment that fosters growth, learning, and resilience.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide Personal Counselling::
• Offer one-on-one counselling to students dealing with personal and emotional issues, including stress, anxiety, depression, homesickness, and relationship challenges.
• Conduct initial assessments and develop personalized solutions for students facing various difficulties.
• Employ active listening skills to understand students' concerns and offer unbiased guidance.
• Maintain confidentiality and ensure a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental environment.
Crisis Management:
• Provide Personal Counselling:
• Respond promptly and effectively to students experiencing crises such as suicidal thoughts, self-harm, or harmful substance use.
• Employ crisis intervention techniques and make appropriate referrals to external resources when necessary.
• Coordinate with relevant departments to ensure a coordinated response to student crises.
Conduct Group Counselling:
• Facilitate group counselling sessions on topics such as stress management, time management, study skills, and personal growth.
• Organize workshops on self-care, mindfulness, and resilience to help students develop coping strategies.
• Foster a supportive and inclusive environment for students to connect, share experiences, and learn from one another.
Documentation and Reporting:
• Maintain accurate and confidential records of counselling sessions, consultations, and referrals.
• Prepare reports on student progress, trends, and areas of concern for administration.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of counselling practices and interventions to ensure effective service delivery.
