In-country is a British education management company launched in 2016 and now has a team of more than fifty people across Delhi, Mumbai, Lahore, and the UK. We manage the South Asian student recruitment operations for multiple blue-chip international universities and work on creative and exciting projects for many others.

In-country is looking to appoint a Country Officer based in Chennai to work as part of our dedicated team for our client, Aston University.

Aston University recruits Indian nationals for its degree-level courses studied from the UK each year. It is The Guardian University of the Year 2020, has a Triple-Accredited Business School, and enjoys a strong reputation for its academic excellence, teaching and employability globally. To support this aim, Aston University works with In-Country to manage its recruitment of students primarily and its development work. Aston has a team of professional staff based in India and managed by In-country but working closely with the in-house team in the UK to support this.

As a Country Officer (India), one would be responsible for promoting Aston University in the region, including the conversion of applicants. This would involve overseeing the student journey for South Asian students from the point at which they would be exploring their options to study in the UK, through to their enrolment to the university. Hence, it would be essential for one to develop an extensive knowledge of Aston’s programs and admissions procedures and maintain constant communication with a range of departments at the University in the UK.

The primary focus of this role would be to strategize, plan and implement student recruitment activities for the University in India and other regions of South Asia, supporting and reporting to the In-Country Manager based in India and working from In-Country University Hub.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement conversion and engagement strategies for prospective students
  • Planning and execution of recruitment activity including, but not limited to, recruitment events, pre-departure briefings and inbound visits of academic staff and senior management
  • Create an effective outreach mechanism to convert prospective students into offer-holders
  • Provide data and insights on student sentiments, preferences, and market intelligence to the university
  • Work on student funnelling and update it to filter prospective students for efficient pipeline management, in line with GDPR requirements
  • Efficiently managing all communication channels with prospective students
  • Planning and implementation of communication stream pre-application and post-application submission
  • Support implementation of strategy for smooth admission process from application to enrolment
  • Engaging with, and maintaining positive working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders such as agents and school counsellors

Skills and Attributes

Essential:

  • Knowledge and understanding of the Indian and International curriculum and grading systems
  • Excellent communication skills with fluent use of English in speaking and writing across diverse communication methods
  • Ability to communicate confidently across varied audiences, from students to parents, over various media channels
  • A supportive team member with the flexibility to support colleagues
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and nurture positive working relationships with students and parents from application to enrolment, as well as senior management at the university
  • Creative and innovative thinking with problem-solving skills
  • Must have attention to detail
  • IT literacy with the use of Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Ability to manage a heavy workload, prioritizing demands, and working to deadlines
  • Familiarity with online communication systems such as Skype, Zoom, and/or Microsoft Teams

Desirable:

  • A graduate from an international or prestigious Indian university and/or, one year of experience working in a marketing/sales or international student recruitment role
  • Experience or willingness to develop skills in delivering information sessions on social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, etc.
  • Excellent report and content writing skills
  • Demonstrate strategy/leadership in a project or event organising and management
