Job Description

Job Description: Primary areas that Head of Curriculum and Knowledge Delivery will look into are:

Curriculum Development

  • Review Year Plans, Topic Summary, Session Plans to ensure they are aligned to CBSE/NCERT/NCF/NEP wherever applicable
  • Review and recommend textbooks, reference books and other educational materials such as worksheets, learning materials and books for all grades – Nursery-XII
  • Document learnings from each topic based on teachers’ inputs about student response. Accordingly plan to modify/enhance the existing lesson and session plans.
  • Projects need to be Inquiry Based and involve investigation. Students should be able to apply concepts learnt to solve real life problems, share their views, design new ideas to solve existing problems.

Knowledge Delivery

  • Planning - Timetable, Academic Calendar, Events Calendar, Learning Aids
  • Classroom Transactions - Ensure that all classroom transactions are aligned to the pedagogy of MIT VGS. Observe classroom transactions and monitor learner engagement level during the sessions and accordingly provide feedback to teachers. Identify areas where teachers need training – Classroom Management/Lesson Plan/Teaching Strategies etc.
  • Learning Spaces - Conduct bi-monthly facility audits focusing on classrooms and other learning areas to ensure they embed an element of learning. In the classrooms, make sure the bulletin boards and other resources are available to display student work.
  • Remedial Learning and Supportive Instruction - Closely work with Principals to put together a list of students that are struggling learners. Devise a remedial program for such learners and monitor their progress closely. Document the progress of reading level and basic arithmetic throughout the program. Also document specific anecdotes.
  • Field Trips: Work with Principals to ensure that student outcomes are prepared for Field Trips. Field Trip Observation sheets should be prepared for every trip.
  • ICT, Arts, Sports – Prepare the plan and observe the transaction of curriculum, learner engagement and the instructor.
  • Department Meetings: Conduct weekly meetings with each department to review their progress in curriculum, address their challenges with respect to student learning, lesson plan, homework, teacher training etc.
  • Student Handbook/Daily Diary: Review student handbooks/daily diary to ensure quality of corrections

Student Performance

  • Student Attendance: Review Student Attendance and coordinate with Principals. Analyse Student Attendance data to monitor frequent absence
  • Student Behaviour: Interact with Principals regularly to review student behaviour and do a root cause analysis and also find out about student’s home environment. Research ‘Student Behavioral Remedial Program’
  • Student Fitness: Interact with Principals to plan healthy eating schedules
  • Student Academic Progress: Review Student Academic Progress (by checking CW, HW, Diaries, Reports and interviewing teachers) and analyze root causes for poor performance. Liaise with SME’s and Principals for subject related issues. Accordingly, schedule regular meetings with parents of students that need more assistance at home with academics.
  • Student Case study files: Develop a simple format for teachers to keep track of students’ progress in all aspects.

Assessments

  • Question Papers: Guidelines for preparing question papers have to be given prior to each test. Review content of Question Papers and quality of regular assessments like the class tests
  • Corrections: Establish Correction code and review with teachers. Review corrected answer sheets to ensure consistency in the quality of corrections.
  • Reports & Marks Entry: Ensure that data is validated and verified.
  • Performance Review with Parents : Plan in organizing Parent-Teacher conference to review performance of students (one-one interaction with parents) wherever required
  • Learning Analytics: Use data from MCB to analyse student levels across different sections. Identify components of each subject that has lower class avg and take initiatives to fix the gap.

Competitive Exams

  • Identify a list of competitive exams in Science, English, Math and ICT and add it to the academic calendar
  • Plan integration of the syllabus of such tests in the academic planner

Teacher Mentoring & Training

  • Mentoring Program: Ensure that each teacher has a mentor to connect and learn
  • The mentor needs to occasionally observe the teacher in session so as to provide meaningful feedback.
  • Teacher Training: Build a training calendar for the academic year. Include topics ranging from Technical Skills to Soft Skills to EQ and working in teams
  • Implement innovative programs to help teachers become lifelong learners - book clubs etc.
  • Build an in house CBP plan to do in-house training

Teacher Progress & Performance

  • Conduct meetings with each teacher after audit. Provide feedback that will aid in improving teaching skills. Design a ‘Teacher Development Plan’ customized to each teacher focusing on their improvement areas.
  • Quarterly Appraisal meetings: Document teacher performance over the term and ensure that all teachers get feedback from their manager.

Parent Engagement

  • Design content and format for all Parent Engagement activities - Orientations, PTMs, and School Events - SLC, Activity Showcase and other Special Days
  • Come up with at least one new event every year which involves activities that parents & children do together.
  • Build feedback forms - either on paper or web, and get feedback from parents so we can focus on continuous improvement

Qualification: Any Post Graduate with a B.Ed./M.Ed. degree

Experience: Must have worked in a chain/group of schools as Head Curriculum for a minimum period of one year.
