Director – Security and Vigilance (Job Vacancy)

Job Purpose The Head of Security will be responsible of Universitys Campus in formulating security and vigilance strategy, define goals and providing error free performance by the units in the areas of security and vigilance. Will work with the Head of Infrastructure. Key Accountability Strategic • Align the departmental objectives to the organizational objectives. • Study the existing SOP’s, modify, redesign or add new SOP’s and ensure they are followed. • Draft systems and policies for the department and ensure everyone follows (staff, students and visitors) • Create a safe and secure campus for the students, employees, stakeholders and the visitors. • Setup a proper security audit system and plan for the audit at regular intervals. Give surprise checks at times to improve the existing system. Operational • Train the staff in disaster management, risk management, safety and Health. • Ensure the security staff is physically fit and alter on duty. • Ensure they follow all the rules and regulations of the organization. • Ensure we set up high security standards in compliance as prescribed statutory norms and ensure timely legal compliances. • Plan for preventive policies to avoid any malpractices, corruption, fraud etc. • Train the security and conduct drills at regular intervals. • Identify a successor and train them to take up the responsibilities in your absence. • Ensure detailed induction to the new joinee to handle various situation. • Ensure all the CCTV cameras, alarms, access control system, fire extinguishers are operational and timely check/ audit is done by the respective department. • Identify sensitive areas within the campus and keep a close watch to avoid any wrong incident to take place. • Ensure patrolling of the security within the campus as per the route allotted to them. • Maintain a proper record of the things identified by the guards during their patrolling for further action plan • Try and set up a visitors system with a visitor tag. • Ensure proper rotta system to avoid any absenteeism of the security staff and ensure the work does not hamper. • Submit and support the team with proper records in case of any enquiry / investigation. • Ensure the students, parents and employees are provided with a handbook for them to understand the security norms to be adhered to during their association with University. • Guide the employees/visitors/students to park their vehicles properly. • Follow the plan during events and ensure smooth functioning. • Guide the visitors to visit the right department. • Maintain and display emergency numbers and ensure they are updated on regular basis. • Ensure the gadgets allotted to the security are in proper working conditions. • Any other tasks as and when assigned. Financial and Budget • Manage Security Budget and expenses to ensure the university achieves a safe and secure Campus for all the stakeholder. Collaborations • Maintain and build trusted relationships with academic leaders, partners, and stakeholders. External Representation • Represent University on various professional bodies of repute which is value adding building relationship with the community, government agencies, society at large and with ultimate objective of building University brand. Requirements Person Specification Substantial Leadership And Management Experience • Able to provide effective and inspiring leadership by being actively involved in all programs and services, developing a broad and deep knowledge of all the safety programs. External relations and Corporate engagement • The ability to advocate at the highest levels regionally and nationally on behalf of the University and to influence the decision maker. Personal attributes and style • A strong commitment to MIT WPU and its vision, ambitions, and values • The ability and confidence to lead and work effectively with an experienced and capable senior leadership team, empowering leaders at all levels to deliver the Division’s ambitions; • The ability to relate to and communicate effectively with staff at all levels in the Division, engaging them with the University’s vision and plans; • A personal commitment to and record in effective and respectful partnership working across all staff groups; • Sound judgment and the ability and courage to make difficult but informed decisions, including on challenging issues; • Exceptional personal and public communication and relations Minimum Qualification & Experience • Ex Serviceman or retired senior police officials • More than 15 years of overall experience with at least 7 years of relevant experience in senior management positions. • Knowledge of CrPc, IPC, Private Security Agency Regulation Act (PSARA), Maharashtra Security Guard Board Act and Labour laws etc. • Knowledge regarding prevention and management of disaster, Fire & Safety rules and regulation. • Knowledge of latest Investigative and interrogation analytical techniques and procedures • Knowledge of developing and implementing a Business Continuity Plan as per the risk management strategy of the organizationIt is desirable that the candidate has previous exposure to the university environment
