We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Academic Director to oversee all academic affairs at a private university. As the Academic Director, you will be responsible for managing a diverse student body of 3000 individuals and leading a team of deans and heads of departments (HODs) to ensure the smooth functioning of all academic programs. Additionally, you will play a pivotal role in building and nurturing a cohesive and high-performing academic team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership: Provide strategic direction and leadership to the academic team, aligning academic programs with the institution’s goals and objectives.
- Student Management: Oversee the academic progress, welfare, and overall experience of all 3000 students, ensuring a conducive learning environment and proactive student support services.
- Team Management: Lead, mentor, and manage a team of deans and HODs across various departments, fostering collaboration, innovation, and professional development.
- Curriculum Development: Work closely with faculty members and curriculum development committees to review, enhance, and innovate academic programs to meet industry standards and emerging trends.
- Quality Assurance: Implement quality assurance mechanisms to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of academic programs, ensuring compliance with accreditation standards and regulatory requirements.
- Resource Allocation: Manage budgetary allocations for academic activities, optimize resource utilization, and identify opportunities for strategic investments in academic infrastructure and resources.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Foster positive relationships with industry partners, alumni, accrediting bodies, and other stakeholders to enhance academic partnerships, research collaborations, and placement opportunities for students.
- Continuous Improvement: Drive a culture of continuous improvement and excellence in academic delivery, incorporating feedback, best practices, and innovative pedagogical approaches to enhance student learning outcomes.
Qualifications and Skills:
- A Master’s or doctoral degree in a relevant field from a recognized institution.
- Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience in academic leadership roles, preferably in a film or media education institution.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams towards achieving common goals.
- Proven track record in curriculum development, program assessment, and academic quality assurance processes.
- Deep understanding of industry trends and standards in film and media education.
- Excellent organizational and strategic planning abilities, with a focus on results-oriented outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to cultivate partnerships and collaborations with external stakeholders.
- Proficiency in using educational technology and learning management systems is desirable.
