Roles and Responsibilities of a Special Educator:
- Diploma or B.Ed or Masters in Special Education courses are mandatory.
- Identify the learning and adaptive functioning issues the students face during school hours.
- Conduct a formal or informal assessment to understand the academic and behavioral functioning of the students during school hours.
- Plan and develop I.E.P.s with parents and concerned subject teachers for students.
- Work with students based on the I.E.P. developed by you.
- Refer students for formal assessments outside the school in case of requirement.
- Conduct workshops, on request by the school, on topics related to inclusion and education for students with special needs.
- Have parent meetings to discuss the progress and current functioning of the students.
- Discuss the student's progress with the concerned class and subject teachers.
