About Karigar - School of Applied Learning Lend A Hand India’s Karigar - School of Applied Learning was established in 2020 as a skills hub to showcase a model for multi-skill vocational education. Training in skills such as carpentry, gardening and landscaping, fabrication, electrical works, automobile works, food preservation, baking, plumbing, and construction works is provided here through skill-based courses, workshops, and hobby classes. The core objective is to make work with hands popular leading to the universalization of skill education. This facility is also used for training trainers, as an incubator for young entrepreneurs, and as an innovation lab. Karigar believes that developing basic engineering skills helps in our everyday lives and enables us to find faults, repair, reuse, recycle, and upcycle various products by ourselves. Our lab encourages innovation and the creation of useful products in our everyday life. About the Engineering Lab at Karigar: The engineering lab at Karigar has four main sections: carpentry, welding and fabrication, Automobiles, and Manufacturing. The main aim of this lab is to provide a practical learning environment where learners develop engineering skills to create products and solutions. It is a skill-learning hub where principles of science and mathematics are applied to solve social problems and innovate socially and environmentally beneficial products. Key Responsibilities: • Develop and implement an integrated plan for the lab that aligns with its vision to provide state-of-the-art hands-on training while monitoring progress and making data-driven adjustments to enhance learning outcomes. • Design and deliver comprehensive skilling programs for diverse learners, fostering practical engineering skills and ensuring the professional growth of trainees and trainers. • Innovate within the lab's core areas (Carpentry, Welding and Fabrication, Automobile, and Machining) to create and produce unique, skill-specific products and manage these products' lifecycle from conception to commercialization. • Engage in external projects that align with the lab's mission, such as skill-specific repair, installation, maintenance, and accepting new orders to promote real-world application of learned skills. • Facilitate the orientation and education of visitors, showcasing the lab's facilities and training capabilities and promoting the lab's role in advancing engineering education and innovation. • Manage all logistical and operational aspects of the lab, including procurement of materials, inventory management, budget creation, and maintaining essential documentation and data analysis. • Represent the Lab and Karigar at various industry-specific forums, workshops, and conferences to stay abreast of the latest trends and practices in the engineering field and ensure the lab's offerings remain cutting-edge. • Collaborate closely with Lend A Hand India and the broader Karigar team to support outreach activities to attract and develop talent and foster a culture of creativity, repair, reuse, recycling, and upcycling within the community. Requirements Qualifications: • Graduate in Mechanical or Design Engineering. We believe in skills more than the degree. • 5-8 years of experience in training and team management. • Proficiency in design software, MS Office, and editing software. • Passionate about skill development and education. • Creative, with strong problem-solving skills. • Willingness to work on Sundays and adapt to challenging situations. • Team player with resilience and adaptability. • Experience in the development sector is an advantage.
