Job Description:

New York Academy is seeking a passionate and dedicated Homeroom Teacher for the Primary Years Programme (PYP). The ideal candidate will play a key role in providing a nurturing and stimulating learning environment for young learners, fostering their holistic development and academic growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary educator and mentor for a designated homeroom class within the Primary Years Programme (PYP).
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons that align with the PYP curriculum framework and educational objectives.
  • Create a supportive and inclusive classroom atmosphere that promotes active participation, inquiry-based learning, and student-centered teaching practices.
  • Develop individualized learning plans and assessments to cater to the diverse needs and learning styles of students.
  • Establish open and effective communication channels with students, parents, and colleagues to foster collaboration and partnership in education.
  • Implement classroom management strategies that promote positive behavior, mutual respect, and a safe learning environment.
  • Monitor and track student progress, providing timely feedback and support to facilitate academic growth and personal development.
  • Participate in professional development activities and collaborative planning sessions with colleagues to enhance teaching practices and curriculum delivery.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in Education or related field.
  • PYP certification or training is highly desirable.
  • Minimum of [X years] of teaching experience in a primary school setting, preferably within an international school environment.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of the PYP curriculum framework, inquiry-based learning, and student-centered pedagogies.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural and diverse community.
  • Fluency in English is required; additional proficiency in other languages is an asset.
