International Student Recruitment Specialist (India)

Client: M.M Advisory Services (MMA), a market research and advisory firm focused on international student recruitment. We are headquartered in India and have operations in South Asia. This position is for our client university which is one of the top 5 research universities in Canada.

The position is for a Recruitment Specialist (India) for a Prominent Canadian University.

The Candidate will contribute to the implementation of the strategic plan to increase the volume of highly qualified undergraduate international applications and enrolments to the University from India.

To do this, the Candidate will:

  • Be the first point of contact for leads generated through various channels and will provide initial information relevant to the recruitment cycle.
  • Represent the university at channel partner events and generate maximum interest in the University
  • Implement the annual cycle of marketing and undergraduate recruitment activity, and any related administration tasks in consultation and cooperation with the leadership team.
  • Establish relationships with existing channel partners & increase the network of partners for the university.
  • Achieve defined student recruitment targets for the responsible market aligned to the University recruitment objectives.
  • Prepare and present specialist information and individualized advice about The Canadian University programs and The University to prospective students, their parents, counsellors and to a variety of external and internal audiences.
  • Build and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with external influencers such as student counsellors and high schools, alumni etc., within India.
  • Gather market intelligence and contribute relevant data to help drive recruitment and build the client’s brand in India.

The ideal candidate will have a background of 2-3 years in international student recruitment or international education. Experience of working with top secondary schools in India or specifically in focus regions is a bonus point.

The candidate will have excellent communication, interpersonal and time management skills, be highly numerate and self-motivated and have demonstrable cross-cultural awareness. The candidate will be:

  • Participating in the strategic planning and development of India international student recruitment strategy for the University
  • Implementing marketing and recruitment activities in various regions within India, and planning & implementing the annual cycle of recruitment events and activities for the University.
  • Working to increase student numbers and diversity across all programmes. Coordinate activities for effective undergraduate international student recruitment and as appropriate personally attend education fairs, student events and seminars.
  • Researching, monitoring and producing statistical data on sources of enquiries and applications and providing management information relating to course choices, progression rates and final outcomes for each cohort of students
  • Responding to complex enquiries from prospective students and their parents and counsellors knowledgeably and professionally, offering advice on qualifications and programme choices, admission and visa process and being able to advise at all stages of the recruitment cycle
  • Maintaining relationships with secondary schools in relevant regions, including providing support and training for their staff as required and monitoring performance.
  • Developing links and maintaining relationships with high schools, alumni and relevant sponsors (government agencies, embassies etc) in key markets. Liaising with various organisations and institutions in India and Canada (high schools, universities, High Commissions, parents, embassies and others)
  • Devising and developing conversion-focused communications and activities
  • Being responsible for the planning and organizing of marketing and recruitment activities in country, and overseeing arrangements relating to publicity and promotional activities, as well as logistics relating to travel, freight etc. This will include reporting and ongoing assessment on the effectiveness and value of events attended and providing recommendations for future activities in specific regions.
  • Representing undergraduate recruitment both inside and outside the University and being able to make effective presentations on a range of topics relating to the University to diverse audiences
  • Maintaining an operational overview of recruitment events and visits, overseeing liaison with print and design services; ensuring accurate dispatch of materials and ensuring that accurate record-keeping of publications dispatch and usage are maintained
  • Overseeing maintenance and development of central database of relevant regional contacts and update details in the database and other systems as required.
  • Organising and/or hosting visits to the department, and the University, and overseeing the organization of departmental annual welcome events for students, social events for parents, alumni and visiting agents, and annual graduation ceremonies
  • Provide support to recruitment staff in India and Canada as required.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in international student recruitment, international education or other relevant fields.
  • Recent experience of international education marketing.
  • Experience of and commitment to high-quality customer service.
  • Experience of working with top secondary schools in India.
  • Experience of living/working in a culturally diverse environment.
  • Demonstrated experience working with minimal supervision or direction.
  • Creative, business-oriented approach.
  • Excellent language & communication skills, including the ability to make effective presentations, and to write accurately and effectively to students
  • Ability to take decisions based on available data and work on own initiative
  • Strong organisational and admin skills including reporting, records and data management, analysis & presentation
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude, open to learning and motivate self and others
