About the Role:

Envision a classroom resonating with the inspiring sounds of keyboard music, where each student's musical journey is nurtured under your guidance. As a Keyboard Teacher, you play a pivotal role in developing the musical talents of our students, transforming beginners into proficient performers. Your mission goes beyond teaching keyboard skills; it's about instilling a passion for music, encouraging creativity, and building the confidence to express oneself through the universal language of melody.

Key Responsibilities:

Instructional Excellence:

Execute a dynamic keyboard curriculum that caters to individual skill levels and musical aspirations, focusing on technique, music theory, and repertoire.

Provide detailed, personalised feedback to foster students' technical proficiency, musical expression, and performance skills on the keyboard.

Performance and Presentation Preparation:

Mentor students in preparing for a variety of performance opportunities, including competitions, and showcases, emphasising stage presence and musical interpretation.

Organise rehearsal sessions that mimic live performance conditions to cultivate confidence and refine students' presentation abilities.

Student Engagement & Progress:

Regularly assess student progress through formal evaluations and informal observations, offering constructive feedback and adapting teaching strategies to meet the evolving needs of each student.

Create an engaging learning environment that encourages exploration of various musical genres and keyboard techniques, enhancing students’ overall musical education.

Community & Relationship Building:

Act as a mentor and inspirational figure, creating a supportive and encouraging atmosphere where students feel valued and motivated to pursue their musical goals.

Cultivate strong relationships with parents and the broader school community, showcasing the transformative power of music education through the achievements and growth of students.

The Ideal Candidate:

Experience: At least two years of experience teaching keyboard or piano, with a proven track record of fostering musical growth and confidence in students.

Expertise: Proficient in music theory, keyboard techniques, and a wide repertoire, capable of teaching students up to and including the musical Grade 9 level, with a deep understanding of the requirements for each grade level and the ability to adapt teaching methods to cater to diverse learning styles and interests.

Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, capable of inspiring students and effectively engaging with the community.

Creativity: An innovative approach to teaching that stimulates student interest in music, encouraging them to explore their musical potential and express themselves through the keyboard.
