About the Project: Shaktii Academy:

After a successful journey of running Shakti After School for Girls (https://shaktiieducation.org/_) in Navi Mumbai, for 9 years, we are launching “Shaktii Academy” for girls that will look at alternative education programs and life skill enhancement.

India has an impressive enrolment rate in primary school but the rate drastically reduces especially for girls as they proceed into secondary school.

It is estimated that for every 100 girls that enroll in school in rural India, 40 reach grade 4, 7 reach grade 8, 9 reach grade 9, and only 1 reaches grade 12(source: Infochangeindia.com). Therefore, only 35% of girls reach the upper secondary level of education in India.

These stark statistics show that girls need support to complete their school education. enhancement.

Job brief:

We are looking for a Program Manager with experience and exposure to academics. And someone who has a keen interest in changing the current state of the education system in India.

You will work with the Chairperson and team members to create the plan for the launch of an alternative education academy.

You will also oversee the progress of operations.

The ideal candidate will be an excellent leader, a doer, someone who likes getting things done on the ground.

Responsibilities

• Create the overarching execution plan for the set-up and launch of the academy
• Ensure all activities are executed on time
• Share regular updates, milestones, and challenges with the core team to ensure project effectiveness
• Coordinate and support the recruitment of relevant team members

Requirements and skills

• Proven experience as a Program Manager or other managerial position with an understanding of necessary skills and techniques
• Exposure to the field of education and ed-tech is a plus
• Must have a strong passion for changing the face of education
• Awareness of programs like Teach For India, and organisations like Centre for Learning, Riverside School, Avasara Academy
• Excellent knowledge of Google Suite or MS Office; working knowledge of program/project management software (Basecamp, MS Project, etc.) is a strong advantage
• BSc/BA diploma in education or a relevant management field; MSc/MA is a plus
• Physically based in Mumbai and ability to work out of an office in Navi Mumbai
• Knowledge of educational curricula implemented in India is an added plus.
