The librarian is responsible for managing and organizing the library's resources, providing assistance to library patrons, and promoting a love for reading and learning. This position requires a strong passion for books, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work well with diverse groups of people.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the library's collection of books, magazines, and other materials, ensuring they are properly cataloged and shelved.
- Assist library patrons in finding and accessing the resources they need.
- Provide guidance and support to library users in utilizing library services, including online databases and research tools.
- Plan and organize library programs and events, such as book clubs, author visits, and educational workshops.
- Develop and maintain relationships with local schools, community organizations, and other stakeholders to promote library services and programs.
- Stay up-to-date with current trends in library science and technology, and implement new technologies to enhance library services.
- Manage the library's budget, including purchasing new materials and equipment.
- Train and supervise library staff and volunteers.
- Ensure the library's physical space is clean, organized, and welcoming to patrons.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Library Science or a related field with B.Ed.
- Previous experience working in a library or similar environment.
- Strong knowledge of library systems and procedures.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in using library software and online databases.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Passion for reading and promoting literacy.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.
