Job Description

Position: MYP Coordinator

Role Description:

To provide functional and operational leadership for the Middle Years Program, responsible for planning, implementing and evaluating the program, as per the principles and practices defined by IB. Adhering to the pedagogical best practices to create excellent learning environments and focusing on knowledge sharing and professional development of teachers.

Be the first point of contact for International Baccalaureate (IB) for the IB MYP segment.

  • Be accountable for the IB pedagogy being practiced in the IB MYP segment of the school
  • Continuous development and maturity of the IB MYP practices at the school.
  • School continuing to enjoy the confidence of IB (MYP Authorization and Continued accreditation).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead IB MYP Standards and Practices in School:

  • Update and be well versed with the latest requirement of the IB Philosophy and pedagogy.
  • Understand the roles and responsibilities of an IB coordinator and be responsible for adherence to standards and practices.
  • Understands the authorization and evaluation process and requirements and accordingly be responsible and / or delegate the collection of evidence as a routine.

Curriculum Development and Implementation:

  • Collaborate with teachers and department heads to align the school's curriculum with the MYP framework.
  • Ensure the effective delivery of MYP units of inquiry and subject-specific content.
  • Monitor and assess curriculum coverage, alignment, and effectiveness.

Teacher Support and Development:

  • Ensure the PD requirements for the segment are met by planning and facilitating sessions for teachers that enhance their in-depth understanding of the program
  • Provide professional development opportunities and support for MYP teachers.
  • Ensure the teachers are versed with the PYP and DP curriculum requirements.
  • Assist teachers in developing and implementing inquiry-based, student-centered teaching strategies.
  • Offer guidance and resources for assessment and evaluation practices.

Student Support:

  • Monitor and support student progress within the MYP.
  • Promote the development of Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills among students.
  • Address student concerns and provide academic guidance as needed.

Program Evaluation and Enhancement:

  • Conduct regular assessments of the MYP program's effectiveness.
  • Collect and analyze data to identify areas for improvement.
  • Lead initiatives to enhance the MYP curriculum and teaching methods.

Communication and Collaboration:

  • Foster effective communication and collaboration among MYP teachers, administrators, and parents.
  • Serve as a liaison between the school and the IB, ensuring compliance with IB standards and practices.
  • Organize and lead MYP-related meetings, orientations, and workshops for all stakeholders.
  • Play an active role in formulation and revision of all school policies.
  • Collaborate with other coordinators and the school leadership team to ensure alignment with the overall school mission and goals.
  • Collaborate with schools/ coordinators of other IB schools , attend MYP related events/ workshops or meetings.

Assessment and Reporting:

  • Oversee the development and implementation of MYP assessment strategies.
  • Ensure the accurate and timely reporting of student progress to parents and guardians.
  • Work with teachers to ensure fair and consistent grading practices.

Resource Management:

  • Ensure availability of academic and program enhancement resources for both the teacher and student community.
  • Set a platform and procedure for regular and consistent resource sharing with students
  • Ensure IB/ MYP displays in the school.

Teaching:

  • Ensure teaching one to grade level, either individually or as a team.
  • Be a part of collaborative planning - horizontal and vertical planning sessions for the subject that the coordinator is expert in
  • Plan units, engagement activities and assessments in alignment to the school and

Requirements

Qualification :

  • Graduation or higher degree from an accredited organisation
  • B.Ed or any other recognized teaching qualification
  • Knowledge of IB pedagogy, standards, and practices
  • Preference for candidates having completed IB MYP Certification/s

Experience : 5 to 8 years of IB teaching experience with at least 4 years as IB MYP teacher and 3 years as IB MYP Coordinator.
