Job Description

"As a member of Shiv Nadar School, every teacher is expected to make significant contribution to the overall culture of the school. Each teacher is committed to providing a holistic, rigorous and global curriculum that seeks to create independent learners based on current educational research in how students learn in their developing years. It focuses on Bloom's Taxonomy, brain-based learning, criteria referenced assessment, collaborative, inquiry and student centred learning.

Expectations include the importance of creativity and innovation within our curriculum, an ability to engage in flexible working areas that create agency for our young learners and the innovative use of technology that contributes to our development of a curriculum that respects the importance of excellence in all learning domains.

It will be necessary to support a philosophy that encourages students to use their gifts and talents in order to become independent and creative thinkers, who have a sense of purpose and desire to make the world a better place, espousing the principles of educating the whole person for a life of active and responsible citizenship. Using an inquiry based approach, with an expectation that young people become knowledgeable and caring, who understand their responsibilities as stewards of the earth, and who want to help create a better and more peaceful world through an understanding of different cultures and respect for individuals regardless of differences.

Lastly, tol contribute to shaping 21st Century Learners, balanced with the tolerance, respect, empathy and love that we value so much as a community.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Support and liaise with their colleagues in the process of formulating the structures, educational aims, objectives, outcomes and policies for their implementation in accordance to the Shiv Nadar standards
  • build a concept based curriculum and interdisciplinary connections;
  • promote and role model the School’s Learner Profile;
  • foster an inquiry based learning, curiosity and critical thinking;
  • highlight differentiation, innovation and creativity as essential components within their learning area;
  • build global contexts within the curriculum;
  • promote the use of all assessment tools including formative, summative and criteria referencing and their associated monitoring and feedback structures;
  • have a strong academic background in their teaching area(s) supported by their qualifications and/or experience;
  • have an extensive repertoire of teaching strategies, including the acceptance of team teaching and the ability and willingness to use them flexibly to meet the needs and inclusivity of individual students;
  • foster the use of the flipped classroom;
  • be fluent with the School’s Learning Management System (LMS)
  • be capable of forming positive relationships with students, staff and parents;
  • be capable of motivating and challenging students to do their best;
  • engage in Professional Associations;
