Key Objectives of the Position
To carry out the professional duties of a teacher as circumstances may require and in accordance with the school's policies under the direction of the Director of Education, Head of School, Head of PYP and PYP Coordinator. A primary school class teacher is an informed, reflective practitioner who uses inquiry based strategies to create positive learning environments, which motivate and challenge all learners in their class to become self-regulated, life-long learners and leaders. Specific Duties Pedagogy: Utilizing effective pedagogy to empower children to become successful and self-regulated learners who achieve personal excellence by:
- Aligning teaching practices with IB PYP standards
- Establishing learning-focused relationships
- Empowering children to be independent learners
- Providing clear learning objectives
- Tailoring progression based on diverse learner needs
- Implementing suitable formative and summative assessment tools
- Offering high-quality scaffolding and feedback as per school feedback procedures
- Engaging students actively in their learning journey
- Encouraging open-ended inquiry and real-life investigations
- Fostering reflective thinking in children
- Involving students in co-constructing their learning path
- Engaging parents through student-led conferences and regular meetings
- Incorporating ICT, Makerspace, etc. for enhanced learning
- Collaborating with Additional Language Teachers and other single subject specialists during inquiries
- Developing resources for various subjects and disciplines
- Creating task sheets
- Managing weekly/daily updates to parents, homework, substitutions, and communications
- Handling event-related tasks such as multimedia presentations and field trip arrangements
- Preparing and submitting required planners, such as weekly planners and POI sessions on Toddle
- Establishing and maintaining learning corners and Learning Studio displays
- Designing and implementing curriculum aligned with IB PYP framework
- Managing classroom to promote engagement and inclusivity
- Facilitating inquiry-based learning experiences
- Developing effective assessment strategies
- Maintaining transparent communication with parents
- Documenting student progress and inquiry process
- Creating a culturally sensitive classroom environment
- Serving as a model for lifelong learning
- Engaging in school community events and initiatives
- Utilizing appropriate learning resources
Curriculum:
- Demonstrating comprehensive curriculum knowledge, particularly in Science/Social Sciences, Literacy and Numeracy
- Infusing critical thinking and reflective skills into the curriculum
- Teaching all Primary Years Programme subjects in the junior school
- Ensuring curriculum continuity and progression in collaboration with colleagues
Promoting Teacher Learning and Development:
- Actively engaging in professional development
- Pursuing continuous professional growth
- Striving for continual enhancement of teaching strategies
- Enhancing personal ICT skills for better technology integration
- Developing expertise in primary education

Co-curricular Activities:
- Participating in excursions, field trips and PYPX when needed
- Collaborating with Specialist Teachers using a transdisciplinary approach
