Why the role exists:
The Principal of McKemy is responsible for ensuring the mission, vision and values reflect the IB mission and philosophy through revisiting and articulation with the school community. The principal will provide leadership, management and continual improvement of the school, demonstrating a deep understanding of the IB mission and the IB learner profile.
We’re looking for someone who is an active collaborator, highly motivated, visionary and innovator leader for this role. The principal works under the direction of the Chief Leadership and Learning Officer (CLO) to ensure the school is keeping the IB Learner Profile incorporated in the curriculum, programs, activities and daily operation of the school. . The principal articulates the vision and mission of the Academy to various constituencies within the school community as well as promoting its programs to the internal and external community. The principal assists the Superintendent/CEO in creating a climate of professional collaboration and sharing of best practices by establishing structures that foster shared learning, information and resource exchanges.

The Principal is responsible for leading the instructional process with specific responsibility for steering the budgetary process, allocating resources among the Academy, directing the overall site operations, services and staff at a Middle School with a primary focus on improving student achievement, including enforcing established policies and regulatory requirements; coordinating school activities, and managing student and site learning and behavioral issues.
This leader will participate in and apply learning from International Baccalaureate training, be attune of IB updates and ensure there are structures/processes in place to ensure compliance. The leader is forward-thinking, with the aim of the strategic development, growth of the student enrollment and the introduction of new IB or other international programs.
The role will be responsible for proactively identifying information that has the potential to be impactful and elevate issues along with resolution options to the CLO in a timely manner. A key component of this is providing independent analysis and judgment in prioritizing situations needing attention, taking steps to ensure projects move forward, and tracking task progress through completion.
Central to the role will be coordinating and executing the following strategies to ensure that the Superintendent/CEO can meet or exceed our district’s strategic plan goals while building on our rich traditions and our reputation with existing, past and future stakeholders.
