Project Officer (Job Vacancy)

"RuTAG team works in technology need identification, seed funding for R&D projects, workshops/ contests/ internships to maximize faculty-student involvement and exploring technology dissemination/commercialization/adoption models.

The Project Officer will direct the RuTAG staff team (typically 2-4 Project Associates/Interns) and will be responsible for ensuring alignment of short and long-term activities of RuTAG with the mandate set by the Office of PSA. The Project Officer will report to the PI and co-PI.

Job Description:

• Implement directives that will periodically come from the office of PSA, in addition to the project deliverable.
• Project implementation: Coordination with faculty and multiple stakeholder agencies, technical hand-holding, tendering and procurement, field visits to ensure smooth project implementation, explore opportunities for synergies.
• Seed funding: Facilitate approval and progress reviews, regular interaction with project investigators and project staff.
• Designing and organizing workshops/ contests: Event management.
• Student internships: Compile topics from IITM faculty, organize interviews for selection, and ensure work progress of interns.
• Dissemination/Commercialization/Adoption: Proposal writing for additional funding from suitable government schemes, CSR etc., pitching proposals, identifying partner organizations for implementation. Coordinate with the Technology Transfer Office of IITM for licensing and other commercialization activities.
• Content generation: For newsletters, regular website updation, posters.

Qualifications:

• UG degree in engineering and preferably a PG degree in engineering/humanities/sciences/management/rural development. Relevant experience in rural and social development sector will be highly useful.
• Candidates with a successful career in technology/service/management sector looking for leadership opportunities in rural development are most welcome to apply.
• For candidates with no work experience, any relevant internships/fellowships/ activities will be considered. Passion to work in the development sector is a must. Candidates aspiring for PhD may have an opportunity to enroll in IIT Madras while working for RuTAG."
