Research Associate

• Employment Type: Part-Time (2 days per week)

• Duration: Fixed Term Role – 12 month contract

• Remuneration: From $106,337 (+ 17% superannuation and leave loading pro rata)

• Location: Kensington NSW (Hybrid Flexible Working)

Why your role matters

The Division of Equity, Diversity & Inclusion is responsible for supporting a diverse and inclusive staff and student community and working with partner communities and broader society towards positive change.

The Research Associate will undertake specific research projects under the guidance of Athena Swan Academic Lead and to contribute towards the qualitative research output of the unit.

Role Responsibilities

• Conduct research activities (data collection, analysis, manuscript preparation) focused on diversity and inclusion, gender equity, student equity and educational disadvantage.

• Conduct literature reviews and stay abreast of current research and provide expertise on qualitative data methods and analysis to the broader Access, Equity & Inclusion team.

• Provide over-arching support to the Athena Swan Academic Lead and Diversity and Inclusion Senior Project Officer and liaise with project administrators to ensure key research activities are properly undertaken, such as ethics applications and modifications, data management, transcription, sharing and storage.

• Conduct research under the guidance of a research leader, and enable research terms to create scholarly output under limited supervision, both independently and as a member of a team

• Contribute to the writing of high-quality, peer-reviewed publications, internal and external reports, and other outputs.

About You

• A PhD, as well as subsequent knowledge using, qualitative methods such as reflexive thematic analysis or framework analysis (preferably in education, psychology, social work, or a social science more broadly).

• Demonstrated track record in publications and conference presentations, relative to opportunity, with clear evidence of the desire and ability to continually achieve research excellence.

• Proven commitment to proactively keeping up to date with discipline knowledge and development.

• Excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills with the ability to build and maintain effective collaborative professional relationships with University staff and external stakeholders.

• Demonstrated high-level written and verbal communication skills, with experience developing project reports, recommendations, and communications.

• Experience in coordinating research projects (ideally cross-institutional initiatives in higher education) and ability to work according to strict deadlines and meet desired outcomes.
