Job Description

Overview The Senior Application Specialist ensures an efficient software operation so that end users can accomplish business tasks. This includes receiving, prioritizing, documenting, and actively resolving escalated end user help requests. You will be responsible for working with the business to design, develop, implement, integrate, and support PowerSchool’s applications. This person is also responsible for defining, documenting and implementing best practices and standards. Responsibilities Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Implement clients with an enrollment size between 100-10,000. Tackles basic to advanced technical questions as they arise in relation to implementation of the platform. Identifies and propose solutions for inefficiencies of implementation processes. Guide the client through data provisioning. Performs consulting on administrative functions to ensure understanding of admin tools. Provides customer service that makes customers feel welcome, important and appreciated. Contributes to the successful transition of clients from implementation to support and adoption. Assist in application training of existing users and new employees Exercise independent judgment to analyze and diagnose application related problems and issues Ensures data security and integrity for all PowerSchool applications All other duties as assigned Description • Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. • Service Delivery – Completes implementation and training project work, on-time, within scope and meeting customers' expectations. • Product Knowledge –Develops knowledge and maintains continual understanding of designated applications and client business processes. Acts as a subject matter expert for designated area. • Training Session Execution – Able to deliver effective training to varied audiences, through webinars and on-site sessions. • Consulting Skills -Responsible for determining client needs and making appropriate recommendations for current and future value-added services, products, etc. Assist with district/school configuration, process mapping, district data migration, reconciliation of customer satisfaction issues, clarification of customer requirements and stats/steering meetings. • Communication - Liaises with clients either on-site, by phone or email. Sets project and software expectations and provides status updates regarding project work. Responds to feedback, resolving any issues in a manner that satisfies the customer while meeting business objectives. • Project Management - Able to embrace Project Management methodologies (planning, time management, communications, etc.) to deliver these services. • Peer Training -Empowering clients, teammates, and others within our company by imparting applications knowledge and documentation. • Process & Best Practices Knowledge - Ability to recommend and adherence to best practices and process optimization. • Status Reporting - Keeping the necessary parties up to date on the status of your project/engagements and escalating as appropriate. Qualifications To be considered for and to perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Qualifications include: • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related field or equivalent combination of education and/or work-related experience • 5-8 years of relevant job experience, ideally with prior experience working within the education software industry, preferred • Strong knowledge of standard IT practices and workflows • Strong experience with building dashboards or a deep understanding of Business Intelligence • Advanced knowledge of applications troubleshooting with industry specific applications • Must be able to learn and understand business processes as they relate to application usage, internal controls, security and technology • Strong customer service skills • Strong project management, verbal and written communication skills and customer service skills • Oversee large scale projects with detailed designs and document business processes and procedures to coincide with project and firm expectations • Work with minimal to no supervision and take ownership of problems and/or issues and ensures timely resolution • Strong analytical, troubleshooting and organization skills • Able to work both independently and as a member within a team environment EEO Commitment PowerSchool is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace.
