Job Description
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Team Leader to manage our team of 15 Academic Mentors. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of high-quality academic support, driving student retention strategies, and ensuring the team’s alignment with our educational goals. This role demands a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills, a passion for education, and a commitment to enhancing student success.
Key Responsibilities:
• Team Leadership and Management:
• Lead, mentor, and support a team of 15 Academic Mentors to achieve excellence in student support and guidance.
• Conduct regular team meetings to review performance, discuss challenges, and strategize on improving student outcomes.
• Implement a structured feedback system for chats and communication with students, ensuring mentors deliver constructive and impactful academic advice.
• Planning and Implementation:
• Develop strategies to boost student retention and engagement, analyzing performance data to inform approaches.
• Work closely with mentors to implement retention strategies, tailoring interventions to student feedback and performance trends.
• Performance Optimization:
• Monitor team performance, providing regular feedback and coaching to ensure high-quality mentorship and student support.
• Analyze student performance and retention data to identify trends, make informed decisions, and report on key metrics to stakeholders.
• Utilize Excel and Google Sheets for efficient management of schedules, student data, and resource allocation.
• Training and Development:
• Identify training needs and organize sessions to enhance mentor skills, ensuring they are equipped to support diverse student needs.
• Design and deliver comprehensive training programs for new mentors, focusing on pedagogical techniques, communication skills, and platform use.
• Facilitate ongoing professional development for the mentor team, ensuring they remain at the forefront of educational trends.
• Empathy and Communication:
• Lead with empathy, understanding the challenges faced by both students and mentors, and fostering an environment of support and growth.
• Ensure clear, effective communication within the team and with stakeholders, maintaining transparency and collaboration.
• Problem-Solving and Decision-Making:
• Employ a logical approach to address challenges, making informed decisions to resolve issues and improve team performance and student satisfaction.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree with 2 years of proven experience in leading and managing teams within the education sector.
• Strong understanding of academic mentoring, student retention strategies, and online learning platforms.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated capacity for empathy and understanding.
• Analytical and strategic thinking skills, with a proficiency in data analysis and performance reporting.
